Redrow Frenchay Park and Garden Update
July 2021
The summer days will be even more enjoyable this year for Frenchay residents, with the addition of several enhancements to the village green and local area. The preserved woodland and open space that links to the existing Frenchay Common has benefited from significant community investment from Redrow Homes.
Nearing the completion of its 10-stage community project, Redrow Homes hopes these new outdoor facilities which include tennis courts, a large play area, allotment enhancements, and a picnic seating area will be used and enjoyed throughout the summer and beyond.

With the improving weather and lockdown restrictions easing, many people have already been out and about making use of these great spaces. The trampoline and timber framed swings in the park area have proved to be particularly popular with children and young families.
In addition, during the spring, the village green also gained some beautiful wildflowers, as well as some enhanced bulb planting for late blooming. Many of the trees and woodland areas surrounding the Common have been given a makeover with professional tree surgery and landscaping, it was important to ensure that this work took place outside of the bird nesting period.
Preservation of the natural environment has been key to this project, with the existing pond located within the woodland having been enhanced to increase the local wildlife habitat.
Charlotte Newnes, area sales manager at Frenchay Gardens explains:
"Part of the Redrow vision was to create a community and activity area that allowed everyone to gain from this large green space. We wanted this project to bring value and support the local area and it's been hugely rewarding to see come to life."
The final stage of the project will see a Pentanque Court, a cricket pitch, and a croquet lawn.
With the development and maintenance of this hugely important community space, Frenchay residents now have their own park area for all to enjoy. Redrow is thrilled to have been able to create this fantastic mix of beautiful open spaces and activities.

April 2021. Tree Works on the Redrow Site
Charlotte Newnes, Area Sales Manager for Redrow Homes, responds to criticism posted on Social Media, in relation to tree works recently carried out on the Frenchay site.
“I would like to take this opportunity to respond to the comments of concern on social media referring to the tree works at our development in Frenchay.
“As a developer, Redrow is committed to developing in an ethical and sustainable manner and this is of the up-most importance to us. All work carried out on-site follows the legal guidance and requirements, this includes any areas which are surrounded by trees in and around root protection zones.
“We bring in an arboriculture specialist to oversee any areas that require digging or excavating to ensure the protection of trees this includes the area in question at Frenchay. Only when the arboriculture specialist approves the work do we commence with any subsequent construction.
“The footpath that was photographed in the social media post was the reconstruction of an existing footpath which was in poor condition and is part of our on-going commitment to undertake planning approved works which will improve pedestrian and cycle links in the vicinity of our development.
“The reconstruction was completed in front of the arboriculture specialist, who confirmed that the work we were carrying out was safe to do so and no trees or roots would be damaged by the path.
“We recognise that open spaces are essential to our developments and the residents who live there, and this is why we make sure all procedures are followed when building around any areas of natural habitat.”

There's never been a better time to move into your new home in Frenchay with Redrow.
Following the recent Government announcement, stamp duty is now only payable on homes over £500,000 in England. For homes under £500,000 there will be no stamp duty until 31st March 2021. This stamp duty saving could mean that the house you thought could be out of reach could be much more affordable than you think.
Here at Frenchay Gardens we have a number of homes available to purchase that will be ready to move in to before the stamp duty holiday ends. Our 4 bedroom Lancaster homes are available starting from £467,995, and with now no stamp duty to pay, and upgrades included in these homes, you do not want to miss out on this perfect opportunity to get moving into your dream new home!
Just to make all of our potential new customers aware, the current Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme will only run until the end of March 2021. A new scheme has been confirmed to run from April 2021 until March 2023, but this will be restricted to first-time buyers only, and purchases will capped at a maximum price of £349,000. Therefore if you are considering moving to a new home and using the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme then why not give us a call today, as we only had a handful of properties left for sale that fit into the current criteria!
Following our closure during lockdown, the sales office is now back open 7 days a week 10am-5:30pm, and whilst we are currently limiting the number of people that can view a property at a time due to social distancing, we have fantastic safety procedures in place to ensure we can safely accept both appointments and walk in visits.

March 2020
At the time of writing, most of the work to discharge the planning permission pre-start conditions for the link road joining the proposed new primary school site and Beckspool Road is nearly finished. It is hoped the actual road building works will start at the beginning of March.
Meanwhile, the final stone wall remediation works between Begbrook Park and Frenchay Park Road should have been completed by the end of February.
From approximately April onwards, there will be further works in the vicinity of the B4058 Frenchay Park Road/Begbrook Park roundabout with improvement works to the Village Museum and Burden Centre road.
Finally, a new show home has recently opened: It is the largest 4 bedroom home available on the development and is called the Lancaster. It is available to view during office opening hours 7 days a week 10-5:30pm. It is an executive and versatile 4 bedroom home, with prices starting from £474,995.
As ever, if you want further information or have any more general queries about the works please do not hesitate to contact me at

February 2020
At the time of writing, work is on-going to discharge the planning permission pre-start conditions for the link road joining the proposed new primary school site and Beckspool Road. It is hoped this work will be finalised by late-January to allow construction work to start in February enabling the school building programme to get underway as soon as the road is complete.
Meanwhile, the final stone wall works between Begbrook Park and Frenchay Park Road are scheduled to start in the near future but the contractors are still awaiting confirmation from South Gloucestershire Council to instigate road closures which will be required to ensure worker safety. This will entail lane restrictions with traffic lights but advanced notification of any restrictions will be announced either in next month’s update or through the Frenchay Residents Association when known.

On behalf of Redrow, I hope you have an enjoyable Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year.
It is also important and an opportune time to thank you all for your co-operation over the last twelve months whilst there have been significant offsite works which at times have tested people’s patience. The vast majority of these offsite works are now complete and future works should be confined to within the former hospital site perimeter.
Looking forward, the immediate emphasis is on ensuring the link road from Beckspool Road to the site of the new primary school is completed as a matter of urgency so that work can start on the latter. It is anticipated these works will be complete by early Spring and this will then trigger the transfer of the town and village green to the Parish Council.
The final residential planning application, phase 3B, (REF: PT17/5624/RM) has yet to be progressed but this will happen over the next few months.
If you have any queries or wish to discuss anything please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail: [email protected]
